BRANDBERG CRYSTALS Brandberg Crystals from the Gobobos diggings in the shadow of the great Brandberg Mountain in Damaraland, Namibia, are widely known as being some of the finest Quartz Crystals in the world. SELECTING A CRYSTAL Quartz crystals grow in a hexagonal (6 sided structure) sloping towards a point at one end. Crystal points may be totally clear and transparent, or they may contain streaks, lines, rainbows, water bubbles or other inclusions. They may appear cloudly if they are grown in a place where it freezes in winter. Optical clarity usually has little to do with a crystals quality and ability to amplify the subtle energies. SELECTING A CRYSTAL To select a crystal, first put yourself in a calm space. Hold the crystal in your right hand with the point towards you. Feel it physically. HOW TO CLEAN YOUR STONES Cleansing your crystal with water and salt With the exception of a few water-soluble minerals, each new crystal should be washed before you use it. Use a little soapy water to remove dust and fingerprints. Water will also cleanse your stones of energy imbalances. Another method is to hold the stones in cold running water and then leave them to dry naturally. Salt water is often suggested as a medium for clearing crystal energies. Salt will however, damage the surface of many softer stones. Dry sea salt piled around each stone and left for a day is a good alternative. Cleansing with nature Leave the crystal in sunlight and moonlight for a twenty-four hour period or in a rainstorm for just two or three minutes. Put the crystal in a pot of herbs associated with general healing - lavender, sage or rosemary. Leave it for a day and wash off any soil with running water. Leave the crystal in a stream for an hour.
